Cara Menggunakan Passive Voice dalam Bahasa Inggris yang Benar

Dalam bahasa Inggris, terdapat 2 jenis kalimat yaitu kalimat aktif dan pasif. Apakah kamu sudah tahu perbedaan di antara keduanya?

Walaupun kalimat aktif lebih umum digunakan, penting juga lho mengetahui lebih lanjut tentang kalimat pasif atau passive voice. Dalam artikel kali ini, akan dibahas cara menggunakan passive voice dalam bahasa Inggris yang benar. Yuk disimak!

Apa itu Passive Voice?

Passive voice adalah jenis kalimat di mana subjek kalimat bukanlah pelaku dari sebuah aksi, melainkan menjadi penerima aksi. Fokus dari kalimat pasif adalah tindakan atau kegiatan itu sendiri, bukannya orang atau hal yang melakukan tindakan tersebut.

Contoh:

That building was bulit in 1945.

All the candies have been eaten.

Formula Passive Voice

Formula kalimat pasif berbeda dengan kalimat aktif. Untuk membentuk kalimat dengan passive voice dengan benar, terdapat formula yang disesuaikan dengen tenses yang kita gunakan, yaitu:

Subjek + to be (yang sudah disesuaikan) + past participle / V3 + keterangan

1. Simple Present

Subjek + is/am/are + past participle / V3 + keterangan

Contoh:

The jacket is made by him.

All items are sold within 10 minutes.

2. Present Continuous

Subjek + is/am/are + being + past participle / V3 + keterangan

Contoh:

All the rooms in that hotel are being renovated at the moment.

Please wait. The letter is being written.

3. Present Perfect

Subjek + has/have + been + past participle / V3 + keterangan

Contoh:

The road has been repaired.

All the assignments have been done by him.

4. Simple Past

Subjek + was/were + past participle / V3 + keterangan

Contoh:

The cookies were made by my mother.

My phone was stolen yesterday.

5. Past Continuous

Subjek + was/were being + past participle / V3 + keterangan

Contoh:

Their bicycles were being repaired.

The meal was being prepared by the time she arrived.

6. Past Perfect

Subjek + had been + past participle / V3 + keterangan

Contoh:

An important announcement had been made by the president.

This motorcycle hadn’t been used much.

7. Simple Future

Subjek + will be + past participle / V3 + keterangan

Contoh:

The garden will be cleaned regularly starting next week.

The students will be taken to the park.

8. Future Perfect
